Hohenbrink (born 1986 in northern Germany) is a Graz, Austria,-based media artist working with audiovisual installation, projection mapping, hybrid animation, light, and spatial sound.
He received his Bachelor of Arts from ArtEZ, Netherland in 2011 and will receive his MA of Arts in January 27 from FH Joanneum, Graz.
An early artistic milestone was Slow Sense, an exhibition at Steendruk Gallery in Amsterdam, developed in collaboration with Joris Geuts. The project marked an early point of orientation for the spatial and atmospheric concerns that now shape his work. He subsequently built a professional career in motion design while continuing to pursue occasional independent artistic projects.
After several years of working as a digital nomad across different countries, he chose to settle in Graz, broaden his artistic horizons, and reconnect with the roots of his practice in media art, first explored during his Bachelor’s studies.
Over the past three years, Hohenbrink has developed a focused independent media-art practice. His site-responsive installations explore how moving image, light, projection, sound, and architecture can transform the atmosphere of sacred, urban, and natural spaces. Recent work includes visual contributions to Generate Festival; two installations presented at Klanglicht Graz in 2025; and two further installations at Klanglicht Graz in 2026 as a Young Master. In 2026, he also presents work in Vienna as an independent artist, marking an important step in the development of his artistic practice.
His Master’s project, Circle of Light, is a 20-minute audiovisual installation for the Mausoleum in Graz.
He also created an ambient sound composition for the presentation of Olafur Eliasson’s I See You, commissioned by Klanglicht Graz and presented at the Orangerie Graz.
Combining digital 2D and 3D animation with analogue and hybrid techniques, Hohenbrink creates meditative environments that invite attention, connection, and a sense of wonder.
